{Haute Wedding} Erika + Jon

Classic....Elegant...Traditional...Thoughtful...Spunky...Faithful...Beautiful...

These are just a few words that come to my mind when I think back at Erika, Jon, and their phenomenal celebration of love. I knew from the first few minutes talking with Erika on the phone that this was going to be an amazing journey...and it was. This couple lives in Washington, D.C. and through their jobs each tackle difficult tasks daily with grace and efficiency...and they approached the planning of their wedding with the same tenacity. Every detail and moment was planned with purpose and incredible thought. Throughout the day they honored each other, they honored their families, and they honored their friends...it was inspiring, beautiful, and such a joy to witness.

Ashleigh Jayne Photography did an outstanding job in capturing the beauty and fun of this lovely couple and their one sweet day. Enjoy!

Now...one of my favorite activities before a ceremony is the "faux" first look. I feel almost guilty for being able to witness this moment at times because it is such an intimate experience between the bride and groom. The excitement is just palpable...and Erika and Jon took it to the next level by sharing letters with each other...tears everywhere.

The ceremony took place in their family church, The Chapel in the Oaks, and it couldn't have been more perfect.

Typically, when a couple wants to add an activity to their ceremony...we've seen it, been there, done that! However, that was not the case here! Erika and Jon added a truly unique moment to their ceremony when they washed each other's feet. To make this remarkable moment even more special, Erika's talented sister sang "Oceans"...such an appropriate song for the moment...touching, inspiring, so memorable...not a dry eye in the house.

Erika is a girl after my own heart...she knows what she wants and she wants what she loves. They have an adorable first date story where Jon brought her a very specific Starbucks drink. I thought it only appropriate that they share that drink in the first few married moments. It was adorable!

Now...the reception...it was just as fun as it was beautiful!
The venue was pristine, the flowers were elegant, the food smelled amazing, the treats were sweet, and the candles were lit!

I'm just so happy for this amazing couple, their sweet families, and adorable friends! It was a pure joy and huge honor to be involved in their big day! A most heartfelt congratulations to this wonderful Mr. and Mrs.!

XOXO- Rachel
