Beginning during pregnancy, Harrison's nickname has been Captain so it was just natural that the theme of his first birthday party be nautical. We decided to have the party at our home since it was a small guest list. I have a lot of reds and blues in our decor so, again, it was just natural that this nautical party have a white, red, and blue color scheme. I wanted to keep it simple with sporadic little vignettes of details. Enjoy!
To welcome guests, we dressed up our bright red dresser already in our entry way. We decked it out with a couple fishing nets, glass globes, drift wood and other nautical pieces, as well as the invitation and welcome signage in coordinating frames.
We had two food stations that featured light appetizers and sweet treats! I love paper lanterns and tissue pom poms for casual parties...so of course, they were everywhere! I'm also a fan of coordinating signage and fabulous linens, so those make an appearance as well!
We served "Ocean Water", a tasty blue punch, in these awesome heritage mason jars decked out with twine, little life savers, and a Swedish fish! This might have been my favorite little detail!
Our sweets table was under our mantle which featured tons of pictures of our sweet Captain! Each month we took a little progress picture and those served as the perfect banner!
Now...for the pièce de résistance...the smash cake location! I learned a pretty important lesson after my first child's birthday...the smash cake activity can get a little messy. So we set that business up outside!
I just love the mix of our door arbor and vintage high chair...just perfect!
We had so much fun thinking of all the little details for his chalkboard!
Our sweet little guy was pretty impressed with the sweets! But blue icing...never again! ;)
What a party!
It was such a special day and we had a blast celebrating this awesome guy with our wonderful friends and family!
